Chiropractic in Edmonds

Most people have felt those painful knots in their muscles that ache, burn, and pinch. They interfere with your quality of life and negatively affect your overall health. Those knots are the result of tough, dense scar tissue within muscles. Scar tissue is a natural production of the body’s healing process, but it also restricts mobility and causes muscles to become shorter and weaker. This causes reduced motion, inflammation, and pain and can lead to chronic conditions like tendonitis, bursitis, nerve entrapments, chronic low back and neck pain, and headaches.

Our clinicians are certified in several innovative, proven, and effective treatment methods to effectively manage soft tissue injuries. Head 2 Toe uses gentle chiropractic care in combination with soft tissue mobilization to relieve pain and restore muscle strength and stability. We also use neuromuscular and strength driven rehabilitation techniques to improve muscle activity, further stabilizing your joints and preventing re-injury.

Active Release Technique

Active Release Technique (ART) is a deep, hands-on technique that utilizes precise movements to alleviate the blocks in your muscles, tendons and nerves. ART restores oxygen and blood flow, allowing your body to heal quickly and properly.

Whether you are suffering from chronic hip pain due to osteoarthritis, a stiff neck and sore shoulders from caring for your child, an unstable knee from an injury, or you are a serious athlete looking for better performance, improving the function of your muscles and joints using ART can help you.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

This technique utilizes specially designed instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. It is an effective treatment for the restoration of function and the reduction of pain. Treatment is combined with joint mobilization (chiropractic adjusting of the area), stretching, and strengthening. This protocol is designed to provide patients with optimal results in a minimal number of treatments and to restore patients to their pre-injury level of activity.

The ergonomic design of these instruments provides the doctor with the ability to locate restrictions through sound waves like a stethoscope. The doctor can treat the affected area with the appropriate amount of pressure due to the square surface design. This therapy causes a controlled microtrauma and the stimulation of a mild local inflammatory response. This form of treatment initiates reabsorption of inappropriate fibrosis or excessive scar tissue and causes a cascade of healing activities resulting in remodeling of the affected soft tissue structures. Adhesions within the soft tissue which may have developed because of surgery, immobilization, or repeated strain, are broken down allowing full functional restoration to occur.

Myofascial Release

Head 2 Toe Clinicians are trained to look at your whole-body fascial and myofascial linkages. This unique training joins individual muscles into functional complexes within fascial planes. Our clinicians with look at your postural and movement patterns and resolve long term compensation patterns with myofascial work. The goal is to restore both your movement and stability by releasing this fascial network and re-educating the body in movement patterns. What’s so bad about having scar tissue?

Scar tissue causes pain and limits range of motion, which prevents you from functioning the same as you did prior to the injury or incident. Normal functioning muscle tissue runs in the same orientation, allowing for proper biomechanical movement. Scar tissue runs in multiple directions and restricts proper movement.  Without proper movement comes injury.  At Head 2 Toe Spine & Sports Therapy we don’t just want to know that your body moves well, but that it also functions well in real life.
